Seafood Fra Diavolo Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 jar (24 oz) of Mama's Classic Marinara
  • 1 lb mixed seafood (e.g., shrimp, scallops, mussels, and/or calamari)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup fish stock or clam juice (optional, for extra seafood flavor)
  • 1 lb linguine or spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh basil, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine or spaghetti until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining. Set pasta aside.
  2. Prepare the Seafood

    • Pat the seafood dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. If using mussels or clams, scrub and debeard them beforehand.
  3. Sauté the Garlic and Spices

    • In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Deglaze with Wine

    • Pour in the white wine and fish stock (if using). Simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Add the Sauce

    • Stir in the jar of Mama's Classic Marinara. Let the sauce come to a gentle simmer.
  6. Cook the Seafood

    • Add the seafood to the sauce. Cover and simmer:
      • Shrimp and scallops: 3–4 minutes
      • Mussels and clams: 5–7 minutes or until they open (discard any that don't).
      • Calamari: 2–3 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  7. Combine Pasta and Sauce

    • Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and seafood. Add reserved pasta water, a little at a time, if the sauce needs thinning.
  8. Garnish and Serve

    • Sprinkle with fresh parsley and basil (if using). Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
